    GSRP

VBISD Early Care & Education provides oversight for the county's state funded Great Start Readiness Programs (GSRP).  These programs enroll four-year-old children that meet qualifications and are funded with State of Michigan grants. Classrooms are located throughout the county.

Classes are taught by a certified early childhood teacher, a qualified associate teacher and have a maximum of sixteen children. High standards are put forth by the Office of Great Start, Michigan Department of Education, and include research-based curriculums, authentic child assessment, healthy meals and outdoor time. The children attend September through May.  All programs run full-day, with most attending Monday-Thursday.

We work in collaboration with Tri-County Head Start (ages three and four) to support qualifying children in receiving high quality early childhood experiences that build school readiness skills.  Our goal is to allow placement for all children that qualify.

*These materials were developed under a grant awarded by the Michigan Department of Education.

We are proud that Van Buren's GSRP and Head Start programs have been awarded high ratings in Michigan's Great Start to Quality system!
