Hello there! My name is Bill Nelson.  I am a graduate of Central Michigan University with a bachelor's in special education. I have been teaching with the Van Buren ISD since 2008. I later received my master's degree from Western Michigan University.  I am also a Special Olympics basketball, poly-hockey, golf and downhill skiing coach for Area 17. Students in my class will have the opportunity to participate in these awesome events, as well.  

I was born and raised in the beautiful Upper Peninsula in Escanaba, Michigan where I obtained a passion for the outdoors.  I love to fly fish, hunt and play golf.  My lovely wife, Jaymie, is also a special education teacher.  We share several of the same passions, including our three awesome dogs: Bella, Bella and Tink. Yes...we have two Bella's.  

I am a very passionate, positive and energetic teacher.  Students in my classroom will definitely have fun and learn a great deal along the way! I look forward to meeting you and sharing more about the many exiting opportunities the Career Readiness Program has to offer.
