Van Buren Tech Hosts U.S. Department of Labor Acting Secretary Julie Su to Highlight Workforce Development Efforts
Lawrence, MI- Van Buren Tech welcomed Acting Secretary Julie Su from the U.S. Department of Labor to showcase its commitment to preparing students for the workforce through innovative educational programs and state-of-the-art facilities.
During her visit, Acting Secretary Su toured Van Buren Tech’s STEM department, where she met with several distinguished instructors, including Josh Bridges, Engineering and Architectural Design; Gabe Kooyers, Advanced Manufacturing; and Bobby Anderson, Polymer Technologies. The tour highlighted the advanced learning labs and cutting-edge training offered to students.
Following the tour, a roundtable discussion facilitated by Kinexus Group provided valuable insights into the critical skills and industry knowledge essential for success in today’s job market. Participants included local apprentices, young professionals, and community partners, who shared a comprehensive perspective on the key elements required to thrive in various industries.
