April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, focused on raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and encouraging safer habits behind the wheel.

At Van Buren Tech, NTHS students are promoting safe driving through the Teens in the Driver Seat program, which has been implemented in more than 2,200 schools nationwide. Participating schools have seen a 34 percent decrease in cell phone use while driving and a 17 percent increase in seat belt use.

NTHS student volunteers are encouraging other Van Buren Tech students to scan a QR code to take a short survey about teen driving. After completing the survey, students sign a banner to pledge their commitment to safe driving and receive a small prize for participating. Students have until Thursday to take part in this important initiative.A student scans a QR code to complete a safe driving survey.
